Bodega Gardens · website project
A nursery website for gardeners planning their next bed.
We built a website for a family nursery in Poteet, Texas. A gardener can explore plants and growing supplies, work out how much soil to buy and ask the family what’s ready for pickup.

The business and the website
What gardeners want to know before visiting Poteet.
Bodega Gardens serves home gardeners and small-scale growers around San Antonio. One visitor may know exactly which herb they want. Another may have an empty raised bed and no idea how much soil it will take.
The site gives each a place to start. The plants page explains what the nursery grows. The soil and compost page helps someone describe their bed and ask about the right material. Both explain what to confirm before making the drive to Poteet.
Follow the visitor’s questions
From choosing plants to arranging pickup.
What can I grow?
The plants page introduces vegetable starts, herbs and fruit-bearing plants. It suggests telling the nursery about the space and sunlight available.
What does my bed need?
The soil guide distinguishes filling a new bed from improving soil already in the ground. A raised-bed calculator turns the gardener’s measurements into a quantity.
Is it worth the drive?
The contact page puts calling, texting and leaving a message alongside the pickup address. Visitors can confirm varieties, quantities and pickup details with the family before they travel.
Inside the soil calculator
How much soil fits in a four-by-eight bed?
Measure the inside.
Enter the bed’s length and width, then the depth of the layer to add. An illustration shows where each measurement goes.
Compare two fill depths.
A bed 4 feet wide and 8 feet long takes 32 cubic feet of soil at a depth of 12 inches. Change the depth to 6 inches and the estimate drops to 16 cubic feet.
Take a quantity to the nursery.
At 2 cubic feet per bag, the deeper fill takes 16 bags. Visitors can enter the volume printed on their own bag or use the cubic-yard result to ask about bulk material.

Care behind the pages
Keep the advice useful as the selection changes.
The plant and soil pages explain the types of products the nursery carries. Current varieties, quantities and prices are questions for the team, so visitors know which details to confirm.
The calculator makes its assumptions visible, too. The bag size is editable, the extra allowance starts at zero, and the guide explains how to calculate just the top layer of an existing bed.

Which questions come up at your counter?
Start with something your team explains often. The answer might belong on a product page, in a guide or in a small tool a customer can use at home.
- Products. Which choices can customers explore before they speak with you?
- Measurements. Would dimensions, a quantity or a simple diagram make an inquiry easier to answer?
- Availability. Which details change often, and who can confirm them?
- Pickup. What should a customer know or bring before making the trip?
